The tag is masculine, perfect to give on fathers day or as a birthday card to a man. :)

Marion Smith Designs and Petaloo Blog Hop :: Day 04 with Erica Houghton

Welcome! Today is Day 5 of the Marion Smith Designs and Petaloo Blog Hop! I hope you've enjoyed all of the creativity and inspiration this week...I sure have!

Today, I'm sharing two wood embroidery hoops by Darice that I altered using the Nirvana Collection by Marion Smith Designs.

I started with two (one small and large) wood embroidery hoops by Darice.

Next, I painted the metal screw white and then wrapped each wood embroidery hoop with jute.

I then cut two circles from the Nirvana Collection by Marion Smith Designs, adhered and stitched a Heidi Swapp sticker to each circle; I adhered the circles to the back of each wood embroidery hoop.

Finally, I cut balloons, butterflies and sentiments from the Nirvana Collection by Marion Smith Designs; I finished altering each wood embroidery hoop by adding Petaloo flowers.

I used a variety of Petaloo flowers, including flowers from the mixed textured, burlap and sugared collections.

Here are a few close-ups:

Marion Smith Designs and Petaloo Blog Hop :: Day 03 with Shanna Sands

Hello everyone. Shanna here with my very first post for Marion Smith. I am even more excited that we are doing a special blog hop this week joined with Petaloo. Make sure you come every day this week for some special inspiration and be sure to visit the Petaloo Blog

So with graduations happening everywhere, I thought I would create a card and a gift.
I found this cute little Scrabble notebook at Michaels and thought it would be perfect to alter and fix up!

For the card, I had some graduation chippie pieces which I first cover with gesso then with a black gelato. I layered some Posh papers and inked the edges black for a distressed look. I finished the card off with some gorgeous flowers from Petaloo. Don't they go so well?

For the notebook, I glued some paper down and trimmed the edges off as the corners were rounded.

Again the chipboard pieces got a coat of gesso and I used the black gelato on the graduation cap. I wanted to add more pink to the project and decided to have fun with some of the powders from the color lab kit. I added the powder with some gloss gel and a paintbrush to the "unlock you future" piece.

Aren't these petaloo flowers just gorgeous and a wonderful addition to the Marion Smith papers I picked to work with. They went so well with this creation and I love how it turned out.

So don't forget to check things out over at the Petaloo Blog.

Marion Smith Designs and Petaloo Blog Hop :: Day 02 with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, Marion Smith Designs fans! Sandi here with you today sharing a Graduation card and tag set that I made for the Marion Smith Designs/Petaloo Blog Hop. Please be sure to visit the Petaloo blog.

I've used the  MSD Junque Gypsy collection along with some yummy Petaloo Darjeeling and Penny Lane mixed blossoms. Petaloo blooms of any kind seem to blend so well with many different types of projects but are perfect for any of Marion's product lines!

I have a couple of family members who are approaching Graduation, so I took the opportunity to make something kind of girly and pretty for them.  Junque Gypsy is my foundation, along with some mediums and bling. The colors of the Junque Gypsy collection are crazy gorgeous and my absolute faves! I've used plenty of layers and a die cut butterfly for high impact.

Here are some close-ups:

I always have fun making tags and experimenting with different ways of creating them uniquely. One of my favorite ways is just using plenty of layers with some pretty punch work and a bow at the top! The Petaloo flowers are the perfect adornment.

Here are some close-ups of the tag:

Well, that's my little Graduation card and tag set! Almost too pretty to give away!

Marion Smith Designs and Petaloo Blog Hop :: Day 01 with Angee Carter

Welcome everyone to the first day of our blog hop with Petaloo.

Today I'm sharing this layout I made recently about my little pup Teddy. My DAD is a big dog fan and he absolutely fell in love with Teddy-Boo. Since the theme of our blog hop is Dad's and Grad's I decided to make this layout for my dad's office. He has quite the collection of my handmade goodies in his office now.

Teddy is a liver pepper schnauzer and I got him from the breeder when he was 9 weeks old. He was the tiniest ball of brown fur in the beginning (and super hard to photograph hence the blurry picture) then slowly his fur changed to a chocolate milk color. You can kind of see the change happening in this picture. Teddy isn't so little anymore. He's actually almost 8 now but I found a few pictures of him from when he was a pup and I just had to make a layout (or a few...How many dog layouts are too many??)

I use this negative cut out on the layout from an alpha set. This left over has been in my stash for years....YEARS. I added a bit of ombre' paper in the background. The outline of the "i" and "u" and little pink heart were last minute touches. I think it added the perfect finishing touch.

These have to be my favorite flowers from Petaloo. They have so much texture, color, dimension, and nooks and crannys. They added the perfect softness to the layout and remind me of Teddy's fur.

A few additional details.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.
