Timekeeper Mini Album

I am so glad to be back inspiring you all with more lovely inspiration with the gorgeous Marion Smith Designs. 

I absolutely feel in love with the Timekeeper collection.

I decided to make a quick and fun mini album. I even took some pictures to share how I made it. So come along. 

So let's start with making the base.

#1 - First I scored a 12x12 at 1/2", 5 3/8", 6", 6 5/8", and 11 1/2".

#2 - I turned it and scored at 9".

#3 - I folded it straight down the middle.

#4 Then I cut up the the 1/2" off each end leaving the 1/2" after the 9" score and I cut up the middle from the bottom up to the 9" score as well crating the pockets.

#5 - I cut in on the flaps and angled the edges  so they could be glued down.

#6 - I folded the flaps accordingly however this is up to you if you want flaps or not.

#7 - Fold in the flaps and glue them down. 

#8 - I trimmed the length of the mini down to how long I wanted it. Basically I trimmed 2 inches because I wanted it to be 7" tall. 

#9 - I punched holes for my rings to go through.

#10 - I added rivets so the paper wouldn't tear from use.

Then embellish as you see fit.

A Junque Gypsy layout with Sandi Clarkson

Hello there, Marion Smith fans! I'm back today with my second post for the month featuring the oh-so-gorgeous Junque Gypsy collection in the 12x12 version with a subtitle tag from the 6x6 version. I've always loved anything that's a little Boho Chic, so when I stumbled upon this fab vintage photo, I couldn't wait to scrap it! I may have to even use it a couple of more times to satisfy the inner "Gypsy" in me! 

I love that paper tearing has become popular again because it gives an instant distressed look. I used a bit of super heavy gesso, a stencil and some mist to give my base paper some depth and texture. Then I framed the photo with a chipboard piece, some florals and a gorgeous Junque and Gems Aqua Button. When I sacrifice those babies, you know the layout is very special to me! It is super sparkly IRL. Amongst my floral cluster are some Time Keeper paper flowers and a piece of black netting from an old produce sack.

Memories Envelope with Yasmin Tölche

Hello everyone! It's Yasmin here at the Marion Smith Designs blog today! And what a day it has been, I've been out doing newborn photography! It was really nice, and that's why I'm a bit late today.. :)

I made a vintage project today with the MSD "Junque Gypsey" line.. Those papers are utterly gorgeous!

This time I've made an envelope to save your memories in. I'm thinking old tickets, pictures.. whatever  you'd like in it.

I've decorated with loads of flowers and I've fuzzy cut loads of stuff from the beautiful papers. You get so much for free in the papers. I've also used a stencil with modeling paste and I've added some of the gold paint on my flowers and paper egdes.

Someone Special - Card by Yasmin Tölche

Hello!! It's Saturday and that means that it's my turn on the blog! I wanted to share a card today..  to someone special. :)

I love the fact that you the Marion Smith Design papers has cut out elements on them. Love fuzzy cutting details.

I've used elements for different collections on this. A easy breezy card to someone Special.

Splatter Fun with Marion's Color Lab!!

Hello All!

Keri here and today I want to show you a quick and fun new way to use your pigment powders from your Color Lab collection.

Today, we are going to make funky, splatter-painted flower!

All you need is:

Paper Flower

Color Lab Pigments of your Choice

Small Paint Brush

Water Bottle

Step 1

Start with your "naked" flower and your first color.

Dip the tip of your brush in your powder (it takes VERY little) and then lightly tap your brush over your flower. You will barely be able to see your dust. 

Step 2

Next...grab your water bottle.

LIGHTLY mist over your flower. Do not directly spray your flower or the colors particles will mix together. Try spraying from above your project to allow the water to kind of flutter down.

You can experiment with whether or not to add more powder and repeat the process or if you want to spray it a couple more times to allow the existing spots to "grow."

I decided I wanted to add another color!

Step 3

Before I added my second color, I completely dried my flower with a heat gun. I did this so that my color wouldn't become over saturated and my second color wouldn't mingle too much with my blue...allowing both colors to remain somewhat separate. 

I repeated steps 1 and 2 again, this time with my red Color Lab pigment powder.

This was my fun and funky results!

You can have lots of fun experimenting with color combos. You can see that even though I only used 2 colors, I ended up with light blues, dark blues, purples and my red.

I can't wait to see what you do with this technique! It can easily be used for making mixed media or scrapbooking backgrounds, as well as on other products to make your own, personalized embellishments.
