All Occasion Card

Cards are such a great way to use up left over papers and embellishments.  I always try to have a little stash of cards on hand in the cupboard and generally make them so they suit potentially any occasion.  Today I'd like to share with you a card I made from leftovers of the gorgeous Scarlet printable range by Marion Smith Designs.

The cut out clocks are just so handy - have you notice them appearing on all my work lately??!!!

Love You - Kim Price

Today I would like to share a layout I created using some of the gorgeous printables available from Marion Smith Designs. I just adore the mini file folders and these were my starting point for this page. There are so many ways to use these - everything from mini albums to cards, mixed media projects to ATC's and of course scrapbooking layouts like the one I have created above. 

My page started out as a simple 12x12 chipboard sheet which I painted with gesso adding some subtle color using a combination of Distress Paints and inks. I've then added texture with stamps and stencils allowing the whole thing to dry completely before adding lots of gorgeous layers from the Scarlet collection along with other MSD printable elements - there are just so many amazing designs and they all work together beautifully! A title and some coordinating flowers are the perfect finishing touches.

It's Fall Y'all!

Hey there! It's Sarah here, and I wanted to share a Fall card with you! I am so excited that it is fall, it is one of my favorite seasons! The colors are just so beautiful, especially on the leaves. I wanted to create that same color effect, so I took some of the "Up & Away" paper from Marion Smith Design's new Nirvana collection, and a piece of an aged looking paper with text on it from the Scarlet printables collection. I die cut the papers into a large leaf and a small leaf and used water colors right on the die cut leaves to create the pretty fall colors!

 

Also, I printed out the Tattered Rolled Roses Spring Mix Printable flowers, and used some Walnut Distress Ink to grunge them up.

 

 

Add a grungy tag, burlap, and some brown glittery berries and you have yourself a beautiful fall card for someone special!

A layout by Nadia using Nirvana!!

Hi everyone!

It's Nadia here with you today sharing a layout I created with the Nirvana collection.

As we are still awaiting the printed collection, I had fun creating a 12x12 background by overlapping the printouts from my A4 printer. I used some Gesso, stamps and mists to "hide" the joints in the background. 

I also really liked the blue in this collection and decided to use that as my main colour to contrast against the purple in the photo. But when I came back to look at the images of the collection on my computer, the blue looked a little more like a teal .. LOL My printer must have changed the colours slightly as it printed them out. Oh well ! Still looks OK I think :)

Oh the possibilities are endless and I have so many ideas in my head for the next project. Keep an eye out for this collection shipping now. Nirvana Pumpkin "Fall" Card

 With the nip of crisp fall breeze...the picking of apples and pumpkins filling up the stores...I couldn't resist to create a cute little pumpkin "fall" card with the Nirvana paper collection...and I think it turned out adorable!!

I cut the pumpkin and leaves out of the Cricut Artbooking cartridge...

in different papers from the line.

Inked the edges in Pumpice Stone Distress Ink

and popped them up to give depth.

Also created some textured on the card background with stucco

and gesso with a crinkle mask...splatted some sprays of glimmer colors!

Added more colors with the flower and gems in the same tones.

Created a little paper banner "fall" using stamps and cutting little

banner shapes from the paper line...

sewing them together...

laid it accross the pumpking and perfect embellishment!

Paperscape Layout featuring Scarlett by Marion Smith Designs

One of my favourite ways to scrapbook is to create paperscapes.   This involves creating a scene using papers and embellishments, and usually incorporates lots of layers and fussy cutting!  In this layout I used a photo of my daughter when she was still a kindergartner!  I love the shot of her, but alas there was another child in the background - most unfortunately exploring her nostril with her finger!!!  I really had no choice but to cut her out and silhouette the remaining image!

 

Once I had committed to doing this, the theme of the layout just started to evolve.  The look of wonder on my daughter Meg's face lent itself to creating something magical.  The Scarlet range of papers that Marion has in her printables range was perfect for this.  And no magical layout is quite complete with a wee spinkling of fairies is it?!!

To soften the look of the cream Bazzill background I used Viva Modelling Cream in Pearl with a damask stencil.  Not too overbearing but just enough to soften the look.

Handmade Flowers

Hello everyone!

We absolutely love using flowers in our projects, so we thought we would share some of our handmade florals with you today! We hope you like and try them!

Start with white Crepe paper and mist it to the desired color.
fold the paper several times and cut out a petal shape
all at once from the folded crepe paper

Pinch the pointed end

Punch out a circle and glue the tips of your petal to the edge and smash down.

Start a second layer, placing the petal further into the center of your circle.

Position your second layer petals in between your bottom layer petals.

Roll up some crepe paper misted yellow.

Cut slits into the rolled paper, be careful not to cut at an angle.

Cut the excess end off.

Pinch and roll the end.

Spread the strips out and smash down the center.

Glue to the center of your flower.

Roll out a crepe paper ball.

Mist the color of choice and cover the ball with a piece of crepe paper.

Pinch and roll the end and cut off excess.

Glue to the center of your flower.

Fold a piece of green misted crepe several times.

Cut out leaf shapes and pinch the pointed end.

Glue leaves behind your bloom and you are all set!!

This carnation flower is super simple, my Mom taught me this when I was a little girl, and you can bet these flowers were made for party decorations all the time in our house! 

Start with a folded piece of crepe paper, it can be as long as you like because you can cut the excess of later and keep using the same roll.

Freehand cut a scallop edge.

Gather your crepe paper on the straight edged side pinching tightly. 

Keep pinching and gathering around until you have a nice size pom pom.

pinch the back real tight and glue some leaves to the back.
