Hybrid Burlap Mini Album - by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone, I hope you are having an awesome weekend.  I made a little 6x6 burlap mini album in just a few hours, and thought I would share it with you today.  I used  Marion's Scarlet Digitals  along with some odd and end scraps from her Mad Tea Party and Nirvana printed lines.  I love how her printed lines and digi lines compliment each other perfectly! 

 

 

 

I added lots of yummy layers to the cover. A few months ago I shared a tutorial on how to make the flower, and I love how it coordinates with the roses in her papers.

 

 

For the inside I used one of Tim Holtz' binder mechanisms and 4x6 photo sleeves.

 

 

 

 

Pull out those punches and dies for projects like this.  They help to add a little interest to photo mats, and make great layering elements.

 

 

 

The journal pages are from some of Marion's Primrose printable. I fussy cut the rose and added it to the far right so it would match the rest of the papers.

 

 

I love how this file folder serves as a pocket on one of the pages.

 

 

Tags are a great way to add multi-level pages.  Tabs also offer interest sticking out of the margins.

 

 

I used some of the ATC sized note cards from her Nirvana collection to give an extra journal spot. 

 

 

 

The photo sleeves will offer protection for my photos, and give a nice clean finished look to the album.

 

 

This was a super fun project, and I just love it, when you can marry a bunch of itty bitty scraps, to create fabulous layers.   This little mini is going to make a gorgeous gift for one of my scrappy buddies.

It's Fall Y'all!

Hey there! It's Sarah here, and I wanted to share a Fall card with you! I am so excited that it is fall, it is one of my favorite seasons! The colors are just so beautiful, especially on the leaves. I wanted to create that same color effect, so I took some of the "Up & Away" paper from Marion Smith Design's new Nirvana collection, and a piece of an aged looking paper with text on it from the Scarlet printables collection. I die cut the papers into a large leaf and a small leaf and used water colors right on the die cut leaves to create the pretty fall colors!

 

Also, I printed out the Tattered Rolled Roses Spring Mix Printable flowers, and used some Walnut Distress Ink to grunge them up.

 

 

Add a grungy tag, burlap, and some brown glittery berries and you have yourself a beautiful fall card for someone special!

Cotton Tail Layout - Tonya Gibbs

Today I wanted to share with you a layout that I created using Marion's Grand Mini Album and Life Planner downloads. 

These are some of my favorite photos of my nieces.  We took them at Easter last year.  The bunny was such a sweet addition to the photo shoot, and Addie kissing the bunny was just the sweetest moment ever!

I really wanted the focus to be on the photographs for this layout.  So I tried to avoid too many embellishments and color.  Since their dresses had so much pink in them, I decided to avoid pinks in my paper choices.  If there is a dominate color in your photo, try to chose papers and embellishments that do not contain these colors.  It will help to send everything to the background and make your photo pop!  

I placed the photos into the photo frames that are available in the Life Planner download. These frames alone make this kit worth having. I just love their odd shape. I used patterns from both collections to create my own washi tapes.  Then finished off the layout with lace to soften up the harsh lines of the journal pages, and embellishments.

Layout / A Moment in Time- Ana Paula Leal

I'm very proud to be here with all those wonderful  and talented ladies

 who inspired me to create a debut layout.

The theme is about this special moment I am living now 

and I loved to work with the digital files that Marion kindly provided to the team.

 to create multiple layers and several effects.

Creating Art Hybrid Style

Hi everyone!  My first post for Marion Smith Designs and I'm thrilled to bring you a hybrid layout that I designed using one of Marion's beautiful Printables.   Let's start with where this project all began.

Browsing Pinterest the other day I stumbled across this image, which just so inspired me to create something out of the ordinary.

So I combined a picture of my girl and Just My Type digital paper to begin.

I reduced the opacity setting on the photo (top layer) to allow some of the background paper to show through subtly.

Once I had printed out the finished image I mounted it onto chipboard to give it stability. That was then mounted onto a 12 x 12 covered chipboard sheet for added dimension. (Did I tell you I love dimension??!!).

The colours/tones of the digital paper determined my choice of colours for the embellishments, and I pulled all the orange/beige/cream/brass items I could find from my stash.  From there it was just a matter of playing around with the placement of all the elements until I was satisfied with the result.  Look closely and you'll see lots of interesting elements tucked away in there!

The richness and intricacies in Marion's designs are incredible.  And they lend themselves to so much interpretation.  Looking forward to my next project!

Emily Layout

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  

A few days ago, Marion announced her new digi line Scarlet. The papers are vintage prints with lots of your favorite eclectic and bright motifs.  I love the embellishment pages, and decided to use some of the elements to create a layered Digi Layout of my niece Emily on her first birthday.   

When I have 20 of these layouts finished, I love to upload them to an online photo service like Shutterfly and have them printed into a hard bound book.  These books make great gifts and look beautiful on coffee tables.  Bonus is you can print them as often as you like to share with loved ones.

This line contains 27 beautiful digi downloads. I also love to print these out on standard cardstock, and make mini albums, layouts, and cards.   Click here to download these gorgeous papers.
