Meet the Design Team | Jelissa & Yasmin

Welcome back! We are continuing our Meet the Design Team showcase. Let me introduce you to Jelissa & Yasmin. 

Jelissa Cheng

My name is Jelissa and I come from sunny Singapore where it's nearly summer all year round. 

I started out by taking photos when I scuba-dived and that evolved to taking pictures of my sons when they were born. That was when I discovered scrap-booking as a unique and beautiful way of preserving those cherished childhood memories.

 As I progressed, it became an avenue for inner expression.

My style is a mixture of mixed media and shabby chic. 12x12 layouts are usually what I make, but recently I've tried altering everyday objects from home and is currently addicted to canvas. 

I'm so excited and honored to be working with a wonderfully talented bunch of ladies, not to mention the fabulous products by Marion Smith! I hope you enjoy what I'll be sharing with you in the days to come.

Yasmin Tolche

Hi! My name is Yasmin Tölche. I'm a norwegian girl born in 1980. Mom to two awesome boys, Felix and Collin. I'm happily married with Kristian and together we live in a small mountain village in Kyrksæterøra, Norway with our Rottweiler Penny. All of the above is victim of my scrapbook obsession. 

I'm currently work for a scrapbook store here in Norway doing postings online. I see myself as a fun girl with a good sence of humor and creativity!

I started scrapbooking in august 2005. I came over this hobby totally by accident when I was at a friends house. I've always loved to cut and paste pictures in albums and doing some type of scrapbooking in a low level. But it was in 2005 I really got into it. I am what you call a allround scrapper. 

I do everything from cards, minialbums, altered projects and layouts. I love scrapping pages with paints, mist and getting my hands messy. I don't think I have a style that really is just for me, I do everything from vintage to inky, painted projects. These past years I've also got into eductating for a local store and I am expanding my educating to local scrapbook gatherings and crops. I love sharing the joy of crafting and hope to do more educating in the future.

I'm over the moon excited to be apart of this new designteam and exciting company. I love Marion's products and so happy to be apart of this amazing team!

Meet the Design Team | Erica & Sandra

Welcome back! We are continuing our Meet the Design Team showcase. Let me introduce you to Erica & Sandra. 

Erica Houghton

Hi. My name is Erica Houghton. My husband, Ben, and I live outside of Washington DC in Stone Ridge, Virginia. When I'm not working or sitting in traffic, you can find me in my studio creating, curled up with a good book, headed out the door for a run, or sightseeing and traveling.

My paper crafting style is shabby-chic - I love glitter, rhinestones, and anything else that has glitz, glamour, and a lot of sparkle.

I'm totally addicted to patterned paper so I'e resorted to using lots of layers in order to use all of the wonderful papers that come in each collection. I never feel my pages are complete until I've added flowers, ribbon and machine stitching. I enjoy creating a variety of projects including layouts, cards, tags, of the page projects and a mini album every now and then.

In addition to creating for various design teams I also enjoy teaching classes at LSS's because I love sharing my passion for paper crafting with others.

Sandra Przybylska

My name is Sandra Przybylska. I'm a 24 year old Polish lady, a mother to one and a love to another.

I've been a passionate scrapbooker since July 2013 and it has become my biggest passion.

I love to use acrylic paints, stamps, stickers, and patterned paper.

I've lived in the United Kingdon with all my family since June 2006 and it looks like I'm going to stay here. Hugs XOXO

Meet the Design Team | Irene & Keri

Welcome to day two of Meet the Design Team. Introducing our two senior artists, Irene Tan and Keri Sallee!

Irene Tan

Senior Artist

My name is Irene Tan or better known as "Scrapperlicious." I am a mother of two and I have the most wonderful family that always supports me in pursuing my passion. 

Scrapbooking to me is really about family and life. There's nothing more fun and inspiring than to scrap photographs capturing the everyday moments of our loved ones. My scrapping motto has always been "Scrap with your heart and don't forget to have fun too!"

I officially started scrapbooking in March 2007 and a couple of months later, in June, I discovered an absolute love of stamping and inking. I don't really know how to describe my style of scrapping. However, others had told me that my style is ephemera/distressed. 

I'm excited to be part of the DT for Marion Smith Designs and can't wait to see what the outcome is when I combine their beautiful products into my creations.

Keri Sallee

Senior Artist

I have always had a love for all things creative from writing and cooking to music and art. I started, like so many, dabbling in Creative Memories when my son was born almost 11 years ago. It was pages of rounded corners and sticker vomit, but after a while I began to wonder if there was more to "scrapbooking" than this simplistic style. So I started spending time online and at a local scrapbook store finding out what else was out there. I started finding a beautiful world of textures, colors, messy fun inks and paints, and so much more than where I had come from. 

And that is how I live my creative life…always looking for ways to challenge myself and create something new. 

I have been married to the hottest red-head on the planet for almost 12 years and am the mother to 3 fabulous and funny kiddos ages 10, 6, and 4. Last year I quit my job as the Creative Coordinator at my local scrapbook store so that I could spend more time with my family and more time on my craft. 

If you ask me what my motto in life is, I would have to say there are two…

(1) Picasso once said "Inspiration does exists, but it must find you working." I strive everyday to not just THINK creatively, but to put those thoughts into my hands and make something of them.

(2) Genesis 1:1…The first five words in the Bible are "In the Beginning GOD Created…" For me it is a constant reminder that I am only able to do what I do because GOD first created me.

Meet the Design Team | Angee & Aneta

Meet our first two members of the new design team: Angee Carter & Aneta Matuszewska!!!

Angee Carter

Many many years ago I saw a creative woman on Youtube making videos of the most incredible crafts; altered canvases, incredible scrapbook layouts, and gorgeous mini albums. I admired her for years for her creativity and inventiveness. She was able to take something so insignificant and turn it into something so beautiful.

Today that woman, Marion Smith, calls me her friend and I am beyond honored that she has again chosen me to be apart of her design team.

In my professional life I am a teacher of 7th & 8th graders in Houston, TX. I am so fortunate to be able to do a job that I love every day and that challenges me in so many ways. Personally, I am the wife of Cordell and we've been happily married for 3 years. He is my biggest supporter and willingly looks th either way when I purchase scrapbooking supplies. Definitely a keeper! I have two angel babies watching over my family and three fur babies who are spoiled rotten. They even have their own blog. 

My artistic style has been refined in recent years. As I learn more and more about art, and design, my style changes to adapt to what feels and looks "right" to me. I'm a big fan of learning techniques and adapting those to fit my style of crafting. I'd describe my style as evolving with a focus on graphic pattern and color. I'm most often inspired by photography, texture, and unique color combinations.

Aneta Matuszewska

Senior Artist

I am a 37 year old Polish crafter and I have been living in Iceland for 13 years now. I work as an Icelandic teacher.

My scrapbooking fascination started about 3.5 years ago and I have been deeply preoccupied with that for the last three years. 

I love light pastels, vintage and shabby chic, nevertheless I feel comfortable in any style.

For me everything is dependent on the kind of paper I see on my desk, the topic of the card and finally my mood. 

I am a responsible and conscientious person, open to new challenges and opportunities. Marion, thank you for this one.
